ALCOHOL & THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

Hello Internet people!

So i've been wondering - is it just me or does your taste in music change once you're drunk?

I was drinking a couple of weeks ago (okay every day; i drink every day) and when i realised that the alcohol had hit me, i noticed that the music channels on my TV were becoming less annoying and they were playing more and more fun songs to have a little chair dance to (don't lie, i know you all do it). the thing is, the music hadn't changed, it was the same old rubbish they've been playing on repeat for the last 2 hours but i no longer hated it, in fact i wanted to turn it up. It doesn't only happen at home, but also in clubs, where i somehow know the lyrics for a song i've only ever heard once and i'm dancing and screaming 'I love this song!'. Unfortunately i have learnt that the after effect of this is having some one direction song in my head for the whole of the next day, making me want to kill myself.

This brings me on to the biggest burden i carry, and if any of you went to university with me, you know that it's the painfully ridiculous truth. when i say i get annoyed by having a pop song in my head for a day, i mean it, but i take it sometimes as a relief, as i have had one song stuck in my head for about 3 years. the song isnt even relatively modern or even a song to say i particularly like, but in fact it's Europe's 'The Final Countdown'. I
know it sounds made up, but it really isn't - that song is like a poison in my mind and i just can't seem to shake it. Next time you hear that song, think of me and pray it doesn't stick with you too.

STUPIDITY...

Hello Internet people!

Okay, so i've been avoiding writing a new entry for a while because i kept telling myself i had nothing to write about. The thing is, i think it may have been more that i was too scared to put anything else on here, scared that i'll end up ridiculed for wasting my time on a blog. Here's me, sat on twitter, too scared to write something and share it, seeing all you wonderful people tweeting literally the most random things that come to your head, when i realise that i've been tweeting so many things i could write about. The best part is that people favourite my tweets, so clearly i have nothing to fear because all this time i have been sharing, and all this time i haven't been ridiculed.

So here i am, sat in the middle of the night writing this post, so that you all know i'm not giving in, and hopefully you all take from this the fact that we can do anything as long as we don't let clouded judgement impair your vision of what you want to do.

From now on, i promise to put more effort into this blog because after all, i love writing for it! i hope you enjoy reading :)

EMBARASSING TIMES I'VE THROWN UP

Hello internet people!

So basically, i was watching Tyler Oakley and the Beautiful Louise from sprinkleofglitter on YouTube doing their video on times they've 'pooped' their pants, so i thought i'd do something similar, but i've shat myself way too many times... I'm kidding (not kidding). So instead, i thought i'd write about something that anyone who like to drink can relate to - throwing up after getting too drunk.

Right, well i thought i'd start with one that's pretty recent (there are too many times that are recent - what is wrong with me?). A couple of weeks ago, i went out for a night out with a few people i haven't seen in a very long time. i ended up going to this club that i'd never been to before and it was pretty dead inside, so i just drank until i no longer cared. I got incredibly drunk, and when an old friend of mine turns up with a few friends and says 'let's go back to mine', i didn't go home like i probably should have done, and i went back with them. we were chatting in the garden at her house when i realised i was that drunk that i hadn't understood or listened to any of the conversation - all i was thinking of was where can i throw up without them noticing. eventually everyone started going inside so i said that i was going to meet them in there because i wanted to call someone, which was complete bullshit. the second they went in, i started to look for a discreet place to throw up in her garden, and when i tried to get up, it just all came out. The worst thing was, it went all over my new shoes, and all over her garden chair - classy, i know. her, my best friend and her mates saw it happen and they started filming me. i hate my life.

Unfortunately, another time that was worse than then was also pretty recently, it happened when i was at uni, and we were just about to go for a night out. We had ordered a mini bus and i was sat on my own in the back of it when i started to do the drunken head roll, when your head feels that heavy that you can't keep it up. at this point i knew i was about to spew up, but luckily we got to the venue before i did. when we were walking from where the taxi dropped up off to the line to get in, i stopped and told them all i was just tying my laces (they must have been pretty drunk because i was wearing Chelsea boots at the time). so, i was kneeling there, waiting to throw up when a girl walks up to me and asks if I'm alright. i spend a second before replying to answer because i was trying to hold back my sick so i could answer, and i say 'yeah, i'm...' and before i can say fine, i throw up on her. knee down she was covered. the most embarrassing thing is, instead of apologising to her, i ran the fuck away. i hid for a few minutes as i watched her clean off the sick with a bottle of water and get into a taxi home, crying. i felt awful morally, but i felt less sick, so i went into the club and carried on my night - yes, i am that heartless.

So i hope you enjoyed reading guys, and i'm so sorry if you read this, sick girl! I did say i'm not scared to tell the truth! and mum, if you read this, i'm not even sorry for posting this!

NOSTALGIC TRACK OF THE WEEK #1

Hello Internet people!

I've been looking through all the songs that have been recently released and I realised how awful most of them are, so I've ended up deciding on doing a nostalgic track of the week. Basically, if there is nothing recent that catches my eye, I'm going to just share with you a track that I've loved in the past.

Destiny's Child - Say My Name (Cyril Hahn Remix)

People that know me will be surprised by the choice of song this week, because it is in no way my sort of music, BUT it does remind me of a better time, and I've learned to love it. Cyril Hahn has turned Destiny's Child's 'Say My Name' into a calm, catchy party song, layering synth rhythms beautifully to make a track that no one can avoid tapping their foot or bobbing their head to.

I first heard this song when i was at university in Leeds with my mates, while we were 'prinking' (pre-drinking) before a night out. What is special about this song, for me, is that when i first heard it i was trying to keep open minded, but the indie boy inside of me was going mad, screaming to my brain to turn this shit off, but eventually my demon calmed, and the song became a tradition to play before we went out, along with M83's 'Midnight City', which was requested by a friend every night out, under the name she remembered it as - 'Made in Chelsea'. This song will always remind me of good times, and seeing as in December i decided it was best to take a year off from studying, i am no longer at university. Because of this, and the memories that the track holds for me, i think it's only right for it to be my first nostalgic track of the week.

NEW YEAR MADNESS!

Hello internet! Happy New year!

Its 2014! Finally time has pushed over onto a new year at a snails pace, and it's about time! Any self respecting human can agree that last year was an embarrassment. yes, last year supplied us with many cringe-worthy moments, like a twerking Miley Cyrus, who clearly went to Godfrey Bloom's 'bongo bongo land' and came back with mad cow disease. Also, whistleblower Edward Snowden revealed the scandal that was prism, and I'm not talking about Katy Perry's vile new record. I could sit here all night and go on about what happened last year, but there's absolutely no point even looking back at it. especially when 'Blurred Lines' was the top selling single of the year. I think that says it all really.

Anyway, looking to this year hasn't made me wretch and weep for humanity as much as the last few years, because I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. I know it sounds like a bad thing, but to me it's like having a big blank piece of paper in-front of me and i can do anything with it. I first thought that i should set some goals to keep me occupied but, almost completely out of character, i chose practically;

- Firstly, i'm going to buy a camera, so i can do a weekly vlog to go parallel with this, which I'm hoping to do bi-weekly. it's something i've been wanting to do for a long time now and i decided that life is too short to waste dreaming when i could be out there doing something.

- Second is something on everyone's list after Christmas - i need to lose some weight. I've been slacking recently and i've noticed that i'm slowly morphing into a pig, like in spirited away (which is an amazing film, so go watch it).

- My Third and final goal is to get a job, because currently i don't have two pennies to rub together, and for a smoker that's not good. i want explore more, go to another festival, go to London for a week, go do whatever i want whenever i want, but this whole being skint thing isn't helping.

I love my music, and i'm pretty honest, so once i get the chance I'll give a review of the best new bands of last year, and I might start a track of the week. I'm the lead singer of a band, (https://soundcloud.com/wilsonband-1 so expect a few shameless plugs for my band and i will keep you up to date on what we're up to, because i know this year is going to be hectic for us. Music won't be the only thing i talk about so don't worry guys!

Let me know if there's anything you wanna know about me, or anything you want me to talk about, you can tweet me @tejrogers or just comment below!
